List Groups

Updated over 8 months ago

List Groups is a powerful feature designed to help you efficiently organise and manage your Dow Jones screening lists.

Besides having Dow Jones lists, you can also build your own Custom Lists. For instance, you may wish to maintain a list of blacklisted customers with whom you or your clients should avoid doing business.

Custom Lists allow you to specify details such as names, bank accounts, countries, and other relevant information. You can then use these lists to screen both Persons and Transactions effectively.

Learn more about Custom List setup here.

Dow Jones Lists

Salv partners with Dow Jones, which supplies us with a range of essential lists, including Sanctions, PEP/RCA (Politically Exposed Persons/Relatives and Close Associates), and Adverse Media.

When configuring a Screening Flow, you can choose the specific list types to screen your selected fields against. If you select Dow Jones Sanctions, the next step will require you to choose a pre-configured Sanction List Group.

The List Groups feature helps you manage and customise collections of Dow Jones Sanctions Lists. These groups are essential for tailoring your sanctions screening process to your organisation’s specific needs, ensuring effective compliance with global regulations.

List Group Configuration

Navigate to the Screening → Configure List Groups.

Here, you can manage your existing List Groups and add new ones.

List Types

At the top of the page you'll notice you can create List Groups in two types of lists - Dow Jones Programs and Dow Jones Descriptions.

Dow Jones Programs

Profiles from Sanctions Lists, Other Official Lists and Other Exclusion Lists are sourced directly from official government and agency sources, with additional details from reliable public sources when appropriate and available. Learn more about content types here.

Dow Jones Descriptions

Profiles compiled by Dow Jones researchers, sourced from licensed sources on Factiva. The lists cover, but are not limited to, individuals or entities reported, arrested, or convicted for serious crimes; companies owned or controlled by sanctioned individuals or entities; and companies linked to governments under comprehensive sanctions.

Adding a new List Group

  1. Click + New DJ Sanction Group.

  2. Name Your Group: Enter a clear and descriptive name for your group, such as "OFAC Sanctions" or "EEA Sanctions", etc.

  3. Selects programmes or descriptions (depending on the type of the list you're creating a group under). You can either toggle on the whole selector or go granular and, e.g. only select a certain program or description.

  4. After making your selection, click Save. To start using the new List Group in Screening Flows, navigate to the Screening Flows page and either edit an existing flow or create a new one.

When only some column entries are selected, the toggle displays a dash symbol. For example, as shown in the image below, if only one of the two types provided by the Central Bank of Ireland is selected, a dash symbol appears. This symbol indicates that not all providers, types, or other options have been selected.

Editing an existing List Group

In order to edit an existing List Group, simply click on three dots → Edit.

When you edit a List Group that is already in use within an active Screening Flow, any newly added lists will be applied during the next screening event. This may lead to an increase in Screening Alerts.

Subscription in List Groups

Subscribing to programs or descriptions keeps you up to date with new additions to the lists by automatically enabling them in your List Groups. There are several types of subscriptions available:

  1. No Subscription: When the bell icon is not enabled, only the programs or descriptions you select during the List Group setup will be enabled. For example, if a new program is added under European Union Enforcement Orders, it will not be automatically included.

  2. Subscribing to a Selected Item: When you select and subscribe to a specific type or description, any new additions within that category will be automatically enabled in your List Group. For instance, if a new program is added under European Union Enforcement Orders, it will be automatically included.

  3. Subscribing to an Unselected Item: You can subscribe to a type or program you haven’t initially selected if you want to catch any new programs or descriptions that might be relevant. For example, even if the type isn’t selected, a new program added under European Union Enforcement Orders will still be automatically enabled for the List Group.
