Collaborative investigations: New investigation

Updated over a year ago

Initiating an investigation

To start a new investigation and conversation, click “New investigation” on the Investigations page.

You’ll see that as a first thing, you’ll have to select the counterparty organisation(s) to whom you want to send out the request.

💡 You can select multiple organisations at once if you wish. Note that this means that two separate but identical requests will be sent out to these organisations at once. There is no “group chat” functionality.

Categories and templates

Next, you need to select a category. Categories define the use cases for the request. Common categories can be for example “Sanctions hit”, “Money laundering”, or “Fraud”. Categories are also used to define access rights for the users - for example, some users might only have access to requests in certain categories. See Managing your Bridge organisation for more details about access management.

🚨 For each organisation, you can only select categories in which you have agreed to exchange intelligence – this configuration is done by Salv.

Next, you’ll need to select a template. A template defines the data structure of your request. Each category may (and may not) have several templates available to choose from – it all depends on your specific needs. If there is only one template available for a category, Bridge will automatically select it for you.

💡 Currently, template configuration is done by Salv. If you wish to discuss adding new templates or configuring existing ones, feel free to contact us.

When you’ve selected your template, then the next step is to fill in the “provided fields” – this is to give context about your query and provide the other side with enough information to identify the the entity in question. Fields marked with red asterisk are mandatory.

If your template is configured to request data in a structured format, then you will also see the “Request for” toggles. Here you can select which specific data points you are requesting from the other side – sometimes, not everything is needed. This allows you to adhere to data minimisation principles.

You also have the option to mark the case as urgent. In this scenario, the other party will be able to filter out urgent cases and give them higher priority.

On the right side of the screen, you can see a preview of your request that will be sent out. Once you’re ready, click “Send”. You will arrive in the Investigation page view and see your open request.
